  • Sterling silver open jump ring (SS-OJR30-D, qty 4)
  • Sterling wire round 22 gauge half hard (SSWR22HH1)
  • Beadalon 19 strand .018 jewelry wire (B19-30F-018)
{Supplies can be purchased at Artbeads.com}
Tools used:
  • Nipper tool (TOOL-101)
  • Crimper tool (TOOL-100)
  • Side cutter, semi-flush (TOOL-131)
  • Chain nose pliers (TOOL-106)
  • Round nose pliers (TOOL-108)
Step one: Cut approximately 19 inches of Beadalon .018 jewelry wire. Using a 2x2mm crimp tube, crimp it to an open jump ring and cover with a crimp cover. For instructions on how to use crimp tubes and covers, please visit the Handy Tips section of the Learning Center.

Step two: String approximately 5 ¼ inches of Toho round 8/0 transparent rainbow light grey beads. Add a sterling silver multi-V cut bead, and then alternate between one Toho and one V-cut bead until you have 20 V-cut beads. Follow with 5 ¼ more inches of the Tohos, and crimp the remainder of the wire to another open jump ring. Cover the tube with a crimp cover then attach one jump ring to each side of the clasp.

Step three: Cut a length of sterling silver granulated diamond curb chain to approximately 20 inches. Center the chain in a Chain Sta. Find the center of the chain and using a large open jump ring, attach the Swarovski faceted teardrop pendant to the center link. Move past the first diamonds in the chain and skip the next segment of links, in the center of the second segment on each side attach a Swarovski indicolite teardrop bead on a head pin and finish with a simple loop. For instructions on how to make a simple loop, please visit the Handy Tips section of the Learning Center.

Step four: Move out two more segments on each side, and add Swarovski flat briolette pendants using wrapped loop bails. There are also instructions for this technique in the Learning Center. Move out two segments again and center two more indicolite teardrops.

Step five: Attach the chain to the clasp alongside the beaded strand using sterling silver open jump rings.

Approximate length: Short strand: 16 ½ inches, Long strand: 21 inches
Approximate cost: Under $55.00
Estimated time: Under two hours

{Oh So Beautiful - Handmade Jewelry}

Picture 3
Why do they do this to me?? Vendors send me these nice little emails asking if it's ok that they showcase their products to us. Then expect me not to check out their site and DROOL for the rest of the afternoon. :) Peggy Li emailed us on Friday to introduce her beautiful line of jewelry. I just had to blog about it because it's unique but simple at the same time! I'm in love!!

For over six years, Peggy has been creating handmade jewelry that has caught the attention of TV's Grey's Anatomy, Without a Trace, Buffy, the Vampire Slayer, and publications such as Oprah Magazine and Lucky. A stark contrast to her beginnings as a Chemical Engineering major at UC Berkeley, Peggy's handmade jewelry design began with inspiration from the artisans on Berkeley's famous Telegraph Avenue.

"I enjoy designing handmade jewelry, making things that help women feel beautiful. When women feel beautiful, they feel powerful and have more confidence."

Peggy's handmade jewelry designs are deceptively simple, featuring artisan craftsmanship mixed with contemporary approaches to contrast, color, texture and composition.

Glamerous Garters

Oh the joys of myspace and the neat vendors you find!! I just love how creative Mia Von Mink's Garters are, so I had to share!! Aren't they so sassy!! I wish I would have thought of something fun like this at my own wedding!! I definitely would have had a race car garter made for my husband!! He would have LOVED it!! (can I flash back and redo the wedding!?! PLEASE!! :) )

Garters

Welcome to Mia Von Mink's Garters. I make all kinds of garters for all kinds of beautiful girls for special occasions, costumes and pinup fun. Need a custom one, yes I do that too. Check out my signiture Wish Pearl Garters, these are especially popular with brides. Wish Pearl Garters all come with Wish Pearls. A real canned pearl oyster!! Open the oyster before a special day and make a wish on it. Then place it inside the charm attached to the garter to keep your wish close. Canned pearl oysters come in adorable handmade box with a vintage look. Boxes can be personalized. You can ask to have a Wish Pearl added to any of my other garters too. I also make a number of Specialy Garters that are "one of a kind" garters made with vintage trim, antique lace, and or beading. Remember you can always have one custom done to match a costume or outfit. I'm working on a new line of rockabilly pinup garters so keep a look out.
